PLANTING     TIP:

Plant a new vegetable in your garden this summer and try it in a new recipe! Fresh Eggplant Parmesan is one of our favorites.

NEWS FROM CEDAR RIDGE NURSERY

NEW PRODUCT: 
     We were excited to see that Proven Winners has begun selling a WaterWise® Container Watering Kit. It is a drip irrigation product that would work beautifully for hanging baskets or potted plants on a deck. Unlike a sprinkler system that sprays water everywhere, drip irrigation delivers water only to the plant. This kit contains everything needed to water up to ten potted plants from a single faucet. COMMUNITY: 
     Last year, we were honored to assist a new local 4-H group called The Blue Mountain Bloomers. We were thrilled when we were asked to help them again this Spring and to house some of their plants in our greenhouse. In addition, a 4-H group from Catskill called The Clover Buds came to Cedar Ridge on a field-trip. After hearing our presentation about different plants and vegetables, they were excited to plant some seeds themselves. It’s fun to be involved with these youngsters – the future of agriculture!

OUR CUSTOMERS: 
     A new customer, Mrs. N, sent us an email to let us know how much she appreciated us introducing her to Proven Winners’ plants:

“The Proven Winners’ Tiddly Winks (Lantana) that I planted in my 2 planters are such a surprise with no upkeep.  They are huge! And the Supertunias (petunias) are absolutely breathtaking and also huge.  I can’t wait until Spring 2010 to do it all over again. I am not kidding!  I seriously intend to put in my order to you ahead of time next year…My niece visited me today and after looking at all these gorgeous flowers, she said I should enter with Better Homes & Gardens!!”

RECYCLING: 
     Cedar Ridge Nursery will again accept your used pots from perennials, shrubs or hanging baskets purchased from Cedar Ridge Nursery as long as they are in good condition.  We are happy to clean them up and re-use them in order to prevent them from heading directly to the landfill.  Unfortunately, we cannot accept pots from items purchased elsewhere.  You may speak with either Denise or Rich if you wish to return any used pots or hanging baskets.  Help us to help the environment!! 

OUR HELPERS:
     You may not realize that some of the flowers purchased at our nursery were carefully planted by our nieces and nephews. We really appreciate their helping hands!
